NPAs abduct 3 Surigao cops

SURIGAO – More than 40 heavily armed New People’s Army guerrillas Sept. 1 abducted three policemen and burned a dump truck of the Philippine Mining Development Corp. in a checkpoint put up by the rebels at Mt. Diwata in Montevista, Compostela Valley, the military said. Maj. Armand Rico, spokesman of the Eastern Mindanao Command, said efforts are underway to recover PO3 Rogelio Etrata, PO3 Jerry Realino and PO2 Hector Culaste, all of whom are assigned to ensure order at the mining area.
