GSIS pensioners told, renew active status

MANILA – The Government Service Insurance System reminded its old-age and survivorship pensioners to renew their active status on their birth month to ensure the receipt of their monthly pension.
The agency mandates all its pensioners to comply with this requirement, dubbed as the annual renewal of active status, to avoid suspension of their pension.
To renew their active status, pensioners must bring their eCard Plus to the nearest GSIS servicing office or the nearest government establishment installed with a GSIS Wireless Automated Processing System kiosk or G-W@PSkiosk on their birth month.
Then, they must place their eCard Plus on the card reader of the kiosk.
Afterwards, they must choose the ‘Annual Reporting’ icon using the kiosk?s touch screen and then select any pre-registered finger. Finally, they must lightly scan their finger using the fingerprint scanner of the kiosk to complete the process which takes only a few seconds to accomplish.
“The ARAS requirement is a mechanism by which the pensioners themselves control their pension. Their continuous receipt of pension depends on their dutiful compliance with this requirement,” said Winston Garcia, GSIS president and general manager.
He did not explain how pensioners living abroad could activate their status with GSIS.

  4. Same situation here as Sheila. Have notified GSIS that my Mom has opened her skype account but have never heard from them re appointment. She has not been receiving her pension for over a year now. Please help if you know what would be the next move for us. Thanks

  5. We just learned about this skype account when we were about to renew my mom’s pension supposedly through the kiosk. GSIS is right in changing this for pensioners abroad for easy access. But the sad thing about this is that it seems not working at all. They were e-mailed multiple times for the supposed video chat appointment through skype but no reply at all. Is this just a joke? We tried calling the GSIS trunkline multiple times too for enlightenment but all we heard was rrrrriiiiiinnnnggggg……..or very irritating music.

Please help. Pensioners deserve their money….and some are supporting people in the Philippines.

Compliant ang mother ko to renew her pension. Kaya lang may bago na namang ruling na Skype account tapos mag-email sa GSIS. Parang ang GSIS yata ang hindi compliant. Na-email na, hindi pa sumasagot, matawagan na wala pa ring sumasagot. Anybody successful with Skype video chat? For how long is the waiting period. Just wanna make sure it is not some kind of a joke. Thanks.

Hindi pala kami nag-iisa. akala ko ang mom ko lang ang ginawan ng gsis ng ganito. Sa website nila it looks like the instruction is so easy and quick. nagmadali agad akong nag-email. ilang attemp akong sumulat pero ni ha ni ho or kahit telling us we got your request man lang walang sagot galing sakanila. sabi nila di na kailangan pang umuwi ang mga pensioner. Mapipilitan ang mom ko na umuwi dahil if they discontinued nila ang pension nya.! Kailangan pa naman nang brothers ko ang pera dahil his going to take the nursing board this coming june 7 2009 pati ang broter kung isa na naaksidente kailangan nya rin. Pero walang maitutulong ang gsis.

I am a pensioner residing abroad in California. Can you tell me where I can renew my eCard Plus or the nearest GW Kiosk in Northern California. My pension has been stopped for over a year now and the Philippine Embassy in San Francisco does not know where the nearest kiosk is. Please reply asap.

    Thanks,
    Trinidad
