Cordillera organic rice finds a strong market at home

BAGUIO CITY ? Organic rice grown in the Cordillera’s upland farms, including the Ifugao rice terraces, have been directed at an American market in the last four years. But a growing domestic demand for Benguet ‘kintoman’ and Kalinga ‘unoy’ may mean a more sustainable trade finally for mountain rice, according to traders and experts who participated in an organic rice fair here recently.
