WASHINGTON D.C. – Ma. Loisa Gil, a Filipina domestic helper, has complained that a member of the Israeli embassy’s security staff is paying her only less than half of the $1,200 per month she was supposed to receive under the work contract they signed in the Philippines.

For appealing case, Calimlims face higher jail term

CHICAGO, Illinois - For appealing their 4-year jail sentences for abusing their maid, Dr. Elnora M. Calimlim and her husband, Dr. Jefferson N. Calimlim are facing a longer stay in jail.
The United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit based in Chicago, Illinois affirmed last Aug. 15 their convictions, but set aside their sentences. The appeals court ordered a re-sentencing based on the “Sentencing Guideline range” which would increase the jail term of the Calimlims. Read more
