Kidnappers have freed unharmed a retired U.S. Marine’s 19-year-old daughter a day after snatching her, police said July 24. Four gunmen earlier barged into the home of Filipino American father Ver Loyola, 71, in the resort city of Tagaytay July 18, tied up his wife and maid and then drove away with him and his daughter Cristina in the family car. Ver was freed later but kept his daughter. The kidnapers demanded ransom of $68,000 for his daughter’s freedom.  On July 19, the kidnapers released Ver’s daughter. It was not known if the Ver family paid the ransom. The kidnapers took two cell phones, jewelry worth $1,570 and $1,900 in cash. “We’re still conducting follow-up operations to identify and arrest the suspects,” police said.
