FtH asks for aid for storm victims
July 16, 2008
“Dear Leaders of the Community, Friends, at Kapatid sa Kawang-Gawa,
“We appeal to you all leaders to come and be united in our effort to help
our kababayans back home. They need our help. Please open our hearts and
let us just join forces in helping them in their hour of need. FtH
cannot do it alone without partnerships with you all. We can be your
‘conduit’ in mercy in implementing immediate and rehabilitation assistance.
“We call on the Philippine Embassy to join us in this effort–we need ALL
to rally in this movement of HELP.
“Carl Abella of Alpha Travel, who is joining theAmbassador’s tour, leaving July 10, has offered to lead the FtH Disaster volunteers, anywhere he is needed. Carl is already an expert in “Emergency Relief Assistance” volunteer. He has been with FtH in emergency missions to Infanta, and in all areas of Bicol hit by
disasters. We can rely on him to represent all of us. Anyone who can
join and represent their Associations, please join. We just finished Capiz with a modest disbursement of $3,000, giving out food, bread, water, first-aid medicines, etc. We will get a full report later.
“Next in line is Romblon, through the generosity of the Hawaiian
International Relief Organization (Filipino Community of Hawaii, headed
by Jun Abinsay). The Hawaii group allocated $3,000 for immediate
assistance and are continuing their fund raising efforts for the next
round of assistance. Next, as soon as we get “substantial” funding/pledges, we will go to Iloilo.
“Feed the Hungry, Inc. can initiate this “direct assistance” because of
our partnership with the Commission On Filipinos Overseas, our partner
for 15 years now.
