Calamba massacre suspect killed

Bernabe Fiesta, the primary suspect in Monday’s (May 19) Calamba massacre was killed by policemen in an encounter the next day in Calamba city. Fiesta, 29, of Kidapawan, North Cotabato, tried to evade a dragnet in Barangay Hornalan but was gunned down by police. Police recovered the M-16 Armalite rifle Fiesta used in strafing houses in the Barangay killed eight and wounded six others, including children. The gun belonged to ex-policeman Florencio Peria who is now under custody of police. Fiesta, who works as caretaker of Peria’s farm, reportedly ran amuck because people were making fun of him.
