Filam to run for CA assembly

SAN FRANCISCO – Filipino American Arlie Ricasa recently announced her candidacy for the California State Assembly, 78th District. A lifelong resident, she said that she share the residents common concerns for quality and accessible healthcare, safer neighborhoods, a cleaner environment, quality education, social justice and economic opportunity. “I have dedicated my life to public service – as an elected official, an educator and a community volunteer. I care about this district where my family lives, where my children go to school, where I work and where I volunteer. I enjoy doing my small part in helping to improve our communities and having a positive impact on the lives of generations to come.,” she said. Arlie Ricasa is a Trustee and immediate past-President of the Sweetwater Union High School District (SUHSD) Board of Trustees. She was first elected to the School Board in 1998 by defeating a seven-term incumbent. In 2006, Arlie Ricasa was re-elected to serve a third term
for SUHSD, the largest secondary school system in California. Arlie is a policy-maker for a school district with over 74,000 students, 5,400 employees and a $325 million budget.
In her election campaigns, Arlie received endorsements from many Democratic and Independent leaders. She was endorsed by numerous elected officials that included members of Congress, State Senate, State Assembly, County Board of Supervisors, City Councils and local School Boards. She also earned the endorsements of the California Democratic.
