The crew of a French cruise ship held hostage April 4 off the coast of Somalia includes six Filipinos was released April 11, the Department of Foreign Affairs said. DFA said all the crew members are “safe and in good physical condition” based on communications with French authorities. The families of the six, including a female, have been informed but they requested that their identities be withheld. The French-registered luxury cruise ship Le Ponant, was taken by “an armed group” (pirates) in the Gulf of Aden and anchored in the northeast coast of Somalia.
