pandesal.jpgThree umbrella groups of bread makers have announced increases in the prices of flour by 5-10 percent effective April 15 as the cost of flour continued to rise amid low international supply. Lucito B. Chavez, vice president of the Philippine Federation of Bakers Association, said in an interview on Thursday that a 25-kilogram bag of flour would fetch as high as P990 or almost double the P580 it cost in June 2007. “The result of this price adjustment is that the price of pan de sal would go up to P2.50 apiece from P2 for the smaller size and P3.50 from P3 for the regular size (about 8 US cents),” Chavez said.
