Kenney assures RP of rice aid

The United States is ready to supply rice to the Philippines anytime, US Ambassador Kristie Kenney said April 9. “Yes, you can count on us,” a beaming Kenney told reporters before the start of ceremonies marking the 66th anniversary of the Araw ng Kagitingan here in Mt. Samat. Kenney said the United States was always willing to help an allied country. “Rice is an important issue in the Philippines and I had the great fortune to meet Philippine rice farmers to see how talented they are and how dedicated. There are a lot of things the United States is willing to help. First of all, we will always make our supply available if the Philippines needs rice,” Kenney said. Kenney said the United States was also willing to help the Philippines achieve rice sufficiency through other means such as training and technical assistance.
