Senators acting as models

More and more senators, who receive millions of pesos in pork barrel and allowances have been moonlighting as commercial models and some of them are even running for president in 2010. Sen. Panfilo Lacson is the newest print model for a dermatological clinic that specializes in facial care. He joins the ranks of fellow endorsers of the clinic like billboard queen, television host and actress Kris Aquino. Sen. Francis Escudero is one of several celebrity billboard boys for a treatment center where men can get rid of their excess fat and gain a well-built body. Sen. Manuel Roxas II, president of the Liberal Party, is in a laundry soap television commercial mainly where his being Mr. Palengke is highlighted. Senate President Manuel Villar Jr. is celebrating the Nacionalista Partys centennial anniversary by informing the public about it through radio and print ads. Early on, Sen. Richard Gordon appeared in a television commercial for a bath soap as chairman of the Philippine National Red Cross, which was the recipient of a six-figure talent fee.
