Kibitzer's Corner By J.G. Azarcon Esq.By J.G. Azarcon Esq.
Princeton graduate, Harvard law, New York Citys legal top gun who brought Wall Street bad guys wetting their pants. He was elected to his current position with almost 70% of the votes. Former Attorney General and now New York Governor Elliot Spitzer was the high and the mighty. Suddenly, his pedestal is crumbling, all because of his quest to uncover Victorias Secret.
Sex claims another victim. Theres just something in it that makes people lose their sanity. What now, Gov. Spitzer?
While there are loud calls for his resignation, he might yet survive this thing that a certain politician refers to as inappropriate conduct not too long ago. How does he ride the political storm?

My sympathetic barber has some bright ideas for the governor. Invoke the Clinton defense that the Democrats used to shield their prodigal son. Its just about sex. If its OK with Hillary, its not the nations business.

Tell your wife the devil forced me to do it. Tell New Yorkers you did not do anything wrong in New York. He was just caught picking somebody elses flower at the Mayflower in Washington, DC. And since nobody saw him doing anything with his pants down, he can conveniently invoke the Jessie Jackson defense and explain that he was just ministering to the needs of a confused girl, that the $5,000.00 was just a down payment for her college scholarship.

Dont say, read my lips, I did not have sex with that woman. People would think you must be stupid paying $5,000.00 for nothing. Seek Rev. Al Sharpton. He can get you a congregation of reverends to pray for your forgiveness and redemption, the way they did for Bill Clinton.

Most of all, lock up all kitchen knives and scissors in your home. You dont want to wake up half the man you used to be.
Goodluck!

In Manila, Pres. Gloria Arroyo is still hanging on to power despite persistent calls for her resignation.
Her latest troubles stem from what appears to be a failed kickback attempt from a now scrapped project to introduce broadband technology in government communications. Good project, bad actors.

First, theres the Chairman of the Commission on Elections meddling in the packaging of the project. Why in the world would a Comelec chairman be involved in something that has nothing to do with elections? He must be confused. Just because his office includes the word Commission does not mean that he is entitled to commission in anything he elects to put his hand into.

And then theres a big man called the First Gentleman. According to Rodolfo Lozada, Jr., a government official who was the technical consultant for project, the First Gentleman was present at a hotel meeting with Lozada and Abalos when the two briefly discussed the project. While he did not say much and no commission was discussed at that meeting, his presence seems to suggest that the Abalos proposal to change the funding from a build, operate and transfer and instead avail of a loan from China, had the backing of the big man. According to Lozada, Abalos unabashedly wanted $160 Million commission from the project. Wow!
I applaud the crusade by well meaning people against corruption. But I find it weird that they would allow Erap Estrada to hitch ride in the protest rally. You dont invite Hitler in a march to denounce genocide.

If its just about change in leadership without change in political culture, the marches will just be futile diversions.
