Envoy promotes world democracy

Ambassador Willy Gaa Oct. 11 called for stronger partnerships amongst governments, private institutions, NGOs and civil society in helping promote democracy and development, particularly for developing countries in the midst of a democratic transition, at the video conference convened by the Community of Democracies at the World Bank Institute. The participants also discussed the linkages, synergy and challenges of democracy and development. The Philippines is a member of the Convening Group of the Community of Democracies. The conference was participated by government, NGO and civil society representatives in Washington D.C., Mali, India, Ghana and Chile.
