GREENSBORO, N. Carolina – Five Filipoino nationals were among 27 undocumented aliens rounded up by the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents while working as aircraft mechanics at the Piedmont/Triad International Airport here, according to the Filipino Reporter in New York.

All those arrested March 8 worked for contract labor companies that supply workers to TIMCO, a company that performs contact maintenance on passenger and cargo aircraft. The five Filipinos were identified as Andres Ciperano, 44, Alvin Cruz, 35, Marcos Lucero, 32, Edilberto Maningas, 40 and Jose Sapiandante, 32.
All the 27, which included Latinos, Africans and Asians, are detained at an ICE jail awaiting deportation proceedings for violation of immigration law, the Reporter said. The Philippine embassy in Washington is not aware of the arrest.
